City of Austin says its new recycling collection will include cartons, coated paper products

AUSTIN (KXAN) — On Monday, the city of Austin said its curbside customers can now recycle food and beverage cartons and coated paper products in their blue recycling carts. This is an effort to help reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.

A press release from the city explained that cartons, also known as aseptic or gable top containers, are often used to package items like milk, juice and creamers. Coated paper products include cups used for hot coffee, paper plates and takeout food containers.
