79-year-old man charged with attempted murder in Opelousas motel shooting

OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY) -- A 79-year-old man is accused of attempted murder in connection with a shooting at an Opelousas motel, authorities said.

Leo Demouchet, Sr., 79, of Opelousas, is charged with attempted second degree murder.

St. Landry Parish Sheriff's deputies responded to a report of a shooting at the Cardinal Inn Motel in Opelousas on Wednesday.

Deputies found the room vacant, but said a blood trail led them to a mobile home behind a storage facility near the hotel...
