Monsoon reaches Kerala eight days sooner; marks earliest onset in over a decade

The southwest monsoon arrived early in Kerala, bringing hope for agriculture. The India Meteorological Department confirmed the earliest onset since 2009. However, heavy rains caused chaos, uprooting trees and waterlogging roads. Revenue Minister K Rajan issued warnings and urged caution. The IMD issued red and orange alerts for several districts.
