Record number of applicants for Finland's new joint university entrance exam

Finland's major overhaul of university entrance exams has led to an unprecedented surge in applicants, with nearly 10,000 candidates signing up for a single test session in Helsinki this spring.

This year, Finnish universities have reduced the number of entrance exams from 120 to just nine national-level tests. Each exam allows applicants to apply to several degree programmes at once, regardless of discipline or university.
