Update: Anticipate pea-sized hail with thunderstorms in Yosemite Wednesday – gusts could peak at 40 mph
Yosemite, Yosemite Valley, Mariposa Madera Foothills and Mariposa-Madera Lower Sierra were placed under an updated report for strong thunderstorms by the National Weather Service on Wednesday at 4:47 p.m. The alert is in effect until 5:30 p.m.
The storms could bring pea-sized hail (0.25 inches) and wind gusts of up to 40 mph.
“At 4:46 p.m., Doppler radar tracked a strong thunderstorm 7 miles southwest of Yosemite National, or 12 miles northwest of Yosemite South Entrance, moving south at 15 mph,” says the NWS Hanford CA.
