JUST IN: Democrat Rep Gerry Connolly Abruptly Announces Retirement, Will Step Down From Oversight Committee Due to Cancer Diagnosis

Democrat Virginia Rep. Gerry Connolly, 75, on Monday morning announced he is retiring from Congress and will step down as the ranking member of the Oversight Committee due to a cancer diagnosis.
In November Connolly announced he was diagnosed with cancer of the esophagus.
On Monday Connolly said the “sun is setting” on his time in Congress because his cancer has returned.
The Hill noted that the Oversight ranking member seat must be filled within 30 days.
