Camping options may be limited in parts of Kansas starting May 15, 2025
TOPEKA (KSNT) - Kansans looking to get outside this summer by visiting some local lakes and campgrounds may be disappointed to find that some areas will be closed.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) reported on April 24 that it will be temporarily closing or reducing services at recreation areas in Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri and Iowa starting on May 15, 2025. The USACE said it is trying to manage seasonal staffing and resource limitations which impact its ability to run its recreation sites effectively.
