Historic Kansas railroad fights for top spot in 'best scenic train ride' competition

ABILENE (KSNT) - A historic Kansas locomotive is competing in a national contest this year to see if it offers the best ride around.

The Abilene & Smoky Valley Railroad (ASVRR) is in the running for USAToday's 'best scenic train ride' nationwide competition. People can vote for the historic locomotive from now through to 11 a.m. on Monday, May 12 with the winners of the contest being revealed on Wednesday, May 21.

The ASVRR was initially founded in 1993 as a heritage railway, according to the railroad's website.
