Grass fire extinguished in southeast Austin near airport

AUSTIN (KXAN) —  A growing grass fire was extinguished by Austin firefighters in southeast Austin Tuesday morning.

Close to 2 a.m., AFD posted on social media about a fire in the 2700 block of Lyle Road. That's off SH 71, opposite of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Austin Fire says that grassy area is close to an embankment. Crews used an aerial apparatus to spray water on the fire. There may be some traffic delays with emergency vehicles in the area of Lyle Road and the westbound SH 71 service road.
