The Los Angeles community lost an iconic DJ this Monday. "Jed The Fish" Gould has passed away at the age of 69.

Gould joined KROQ-FM in 1978. In just a few years, he helped the staton enter its "ROQ of the ’80s" movement. He briefly left KROQ-FM in 1985 to join KQAK-FM in San Francisco. After a three-month absence, he returned to KROQ-FM and took over the afternoon-drive slot. He ultimately worked at the station for 34 years.

According to Variety, the L.A.-based DJ was recently diagnosed with lung cancer.
