Pennsylvania arson suspect plotted to beat Gov. Josh Shapiro with a hammer: report

The Harrisburg man arrested for setting fire over the weekend to the residence of Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro allegedly planned to beat the governor with a hammer.

The Associated Press reports that newly filed court documents claim that 38-year-old Cody Balmer told police after being arrested and taken into custody that "he would have beaten Shapiro with a hammer if he had found him."

Police allege that Balmer eluded security officers guarding the governor's residence and set fire to large parts of the building...
