Vandegrift boys soccer earns state championship

AUSTIN (KXAN) - On a toasty April afternoon in Georgetown, the Vandegrift boys soccer team claimed the Class 6A Division II state title.

The Vipers handled Mesquite by a score of 3-1 to take home the hardware. James Hehman got the scoring started in the first half with a powerful right-footed strike from over 25 yards away from goal that blazed past the Mesquite goalkeeper.

"It means the world," said the senior Hehman. "This is all I've ever wanted to do. So lucky it came my senior year.
