Columbus school celebrates diversity by teaching Somali language
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WCMH) -- A Columbus school is celebrating its diverse culture and giving students a bilingual lesson.
Every week, Noor Academy teaches students the Somali language and culture.
Many of the kids are from Somali households, but English is their first language. Now, the school is helping them reconnect with their roots -- and their families.
Teachers at Noor said the Somali language lessons help foster more family communication at home, and the students are eager to learn.
