Markets in Finland and Europe plunge as trade war escalates
Stock exchanges across Europe opened with sharp declines on Monday following the continuation of a trade conflict triggered by the United States. The Helsinki Stock Exchange dropped nearly 5 percent in early trading. Frankfurt's DAX index fell more than 9 percent, and several major companies faced double-digit losses.
The downturn follows the announcement of new tariffs by President Donald Trump, who confirmed the policy last week and did not reverse course over the weekend.
