Christopher Atkins was a big deal in the 1980s—in more ways than one.
The actor became a bona fide heartthrob at the age of 19, when he co-starred alongside Brooke Shields in 1980's controversial The Blue Lagoon. He remained a part of the zeitgeist when he joined the cast of Dallas, where he played swim coach Peter Richards between 1983 and 1984. Like The Blue Lagoon, it was a role that often required very little costuming, which became a source of distraction for the hit nighttime soap’s producers.
