MCA floats draft rules to widen scope of fast-track mergers, to benefit larger number of companies

The corporate affairs ministry has proposed relaxed rules to enable more small and medium companies to qualify for fast-track mergers. This expansion includes unlisted companies with reasonable debt exposure and no defaults, following an announcement in the 2025-26 Budget. The ministry invites stakeholder comments by May 5, 2025.
