Remains of missing teen found in South Santa Cruz County ID’d 30 years later

The partial skeletal remains discovered March 22, 1995, in a riverbed off of Highway 129 east of Rogge Lane near Aromas are those of 13-year-old Laura O’Malley (pictured) from Queens, New York. The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office recently identified the decedent using advanced genetic genealogy and forensic DNA analyses. (Contributed – Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office) 

AROMAS — Santa Cruz County investigators confirmed the identity of a missing teenager, almost 30 years to the day after her remains were first discovered near Aromas.
