Man crushed to death by concrete slab at Commerce work site

A man was crushed to death by a concrete barrier at a work site in Commerce on Saturday, March 29, authorities said.

The accident occurred around 10:15 p.m. Friday night at Strategic Materials Inc. at 7000 Bandini Boulevard, near Garfield Avenue and the 5 Freeway, according to a watch commander at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s East Los Angeles station.

Just after midnight, paramedics were dispatched to the site, Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Capt. Sheila Kelliher said.
