RBI February rate cut sees mixed transmission: Deposit rates fall while lending rates stay high

In February, the Reserve Bank of India’s rate cut led to banks lowering new deposit rates but not immediately reducing new loan rates. The weighted average lending rate (WALR) on fresh loans increased, while outstanding loan rates slightly decreased. The transmission of MCLR-linked rates may take longer, reflecting more significantly in March.
