Highly educated still more likely to join union, lower rates among manual workers

More than two-thirds of employees with a higher university or postgraduate degree in Finland belonged to a trade union in 2023, according to Statistics Finland. Among employees with only upper secondary education, the corresponding figure was 48 percent.

The data shows a continued trend of stronger union affiliation among highly educated groups.
