Witches often get a bad rap, but I prefer the cozier, more relatable depictions of witches found in films like The Craft (1996) and Practical Magic (1998), as well as TV shows like Bewitched (1964-1972). These portrayals resonate because they capture the charm and humanity often overlooked by traditional Hollywood stereotypes.
Continuing in this tradition, writer-director Anna Biller’s stunning 2016 film, The Love Witch, offers perhaps the most accurate portrayal of witchcraft I’ve ever seen onscreen.
