I never left home, like a good Cuban. My dad died when I was 9, and my mom never remarried, so I always felt a responsibility for her as her only child, especially since I’m not married and don’t have children of my own. Around eight years ago, I started to notice she would forget her keys, or she’d forget to take her medication.
