1 dead after house fire in Town of Wheatfield

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- One person is dead after a residential fire broke out late Friday night in the Town of Wheatfield, the Niagara County Sheriff's Office announced.

At 11:47 p.m., police received a report of heavy smoke and flames coming from 3992 Baisch Drive. According to officials, the caller said there was no response from the 82-year-old woman who resided at the residence.

Officers attempted entry to the residence, but were not able to due to the heavy smoke and fire, officials said.
