Chinese media have reported a powerful earthquake measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale that shook parts of western China.
According to China’s Xinhua News Agency, the earthquake occurred on Tuesday, January 7, at around 9:05 a.m. local time in Shigatse, an autonomous region in Tibet.
A spokesperson for the Shigatse rescue organization stated that at least 32 people were killed and nearly 40 others were injured as a result of the earthquake.
