Virus scare: HMPV dates back to the 1950s, to compare it with Covid-19 not right, says AIIMS Delhi professor

Experts advise against comparing Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) with COVID-19, as HMPV has roots in the early 2000s and children develop immunity by age 10. Unlike COVID-19, HMPV spreads through droplets from coughing, and current flu and COVID-19 vaccinations may offer some protection. India is closely monitoring HMPV amid rising cases in China.
