Indian govt capex: Railways and other key ministries see significant spending slowdown

During April-November 2023, the telecom, defence, railways, and highways ministries experienced lower capital expenditure compared to the previous year. The telecom department spent only 6% of its annual allocation. Government attributed lower spend to elections during the first quarter. Overall, Centre's capex was 49% of the allocation for the year, down from 59% last year.
