OAKLAND — An Oakland police sergeant shot a man who then hid in a nearby home before surrendering after a standoff early Saturday, authorities said.
It all started around 5:09 a.m. when the sergeant heard gunfire and saw a man armed with a gun in the 6300 block of MacArthur Boulevard in East Oakland, according to the Oakland Police Officer’s Association.
In a bulletin to police union members, the president of the union said the sergeant confronted and then chased the suspect on foot.
