India lodges strong protest with China over creation of 2 new counties in Hotan region

India has lodged a formal protest with China regarding the establishment of two new counties in Hotan Prefecture, as parts of these areas fall within the Indian Union Territory of Ladakh. New Delhi maintains that this move does not affect India's sovereign claim over the region nor does it legitimize China's occupation.
