Topeka braces for possible winter storm this weekend

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The City of Topeka is bracing for expected winter weather this weekend.

City of Topeka spokesman Dan Garrett said in a press release that the Public Works Department is monitoring weather forecasts for the weekend of Jan. 4-5. He said the path of the storm is still uncertain as of Jan. 2 but work crews are taking steps now to get ready for possible snow and ice.

Topeka street crews are producing salt brine mixtures to treat priority roads in the city with pretreatment efforts starting on Jan.
