Institutions' total bilateral exposures on the rise: Report

RBI's Financial Stability Report reveals growing bilateral exposures between financial institutions, with commercial banks holding the largest share. Total bilateral exposure reached 71.4% by September 2024, driven by increased exposure from asset management companies and non-bank financial companies to banks. Contagion analysis indicates that failure of top five banks wouldn't cause additional bank failures.
