China expands nationwide detention facilities as Xi Jinping intensifies anti-corruption campaign

China has expanded its network of detention facilities to over 200 nationwide. These centres target not only Communist Party members but also public sector figures like entrepreneurs and school administrators. Detainees can be held for up to six months without legal representation. The system, called 'Liuzhi,' continues practices used to intimidate and control party members.
