According to Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic, the New York Mets have signed catcher Chris Williams to a minor league deal. The deal presumably includes an invitation to major league camp.
Williams, 28, has spent his entire minor league career in the Minnesota Twins organization following their drafting him in the eighth round of the 2018 draft out of Clemson University. In 2024, Williams hit .221/.339/.461 with 16 doubles, 17 home runs, 41 RBIs in 88 games, and went five-for-five stealing bases.
