First Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) surgery for advanced Parkinson’s Disease performed at BHU

Doctors at BHU's Sir Sunderlal Hospital successfully performed the first deep brain stimulation (DBS) surgery in the Purvanchal region. The complex procedure, aided by a team from Global Hospitals, Mumbai, and Medtronics India, took 7-8 hours. This FDA-approved surgery offers advanced treatment for neurological disorders like Parkinson's disease and was covered under Ayushman Bharat Yojana.
