One of the two greatest games of the 1960’s
Elvin Hayes is sort of overlooked today. A native of Louisiana, he played for Houston from 1965-68, when freshmen weren’t eligible.
He had a terrific career with Houston with the high point a matchup against UCLA in the Astrodome on January 20th, 1968 in front of 52,693 fans.
UCLA was in the midst of its insane title run.
