Trump picks Matt Gaetz as attorney general

President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he would nominate Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as the next attorney general of the United States.

Trump confirmed the selection in a statement posted to his Truth Social platform.

"It is my Great Honor to announce that Congressman Matt Gaetz, of Florida, is hereby nominated to be The Attorney General of the United States," Trump said.
