Letter: Americans must not succumb to despair after the election

I’ve noticed that every election brings hope and despair to America. So I bring you words of hope and strength.

We were deeply wounded by both Pearl Harbor and 9-11. The world thought we would be brought to our knees, and so did many Americans.  They were wrong then and would be wrong now.  We are a strong and resourceful people.  Our strength allows us to build and keep moving forward. President Roosevelt once stated that we have nothing to fear but fear itself.  He was so right.  We are still that same people.
