Democrat Emily Randall was projected to win her bid for Washington’s 6th Congressional District Tuesday, making history as the first woman and openly LGBTQ person elected to represent the district in Congress.
Randall, a two-term Washington state senator, defeated her opponent, Republican state Sen. Drew MacEwen, according to Decision Desk HQ. She was heavily favored to win election in the deep-blue district, which Democrats have controlled since 1965.
