Canada’s Alexis Galarneau advanced to the second round of qualifying at the National Bank Open with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Facundo Diaz Acosta of Argentina on Sunday.
Galarneau saved seven of eight break points en route to winning the first-round match in one hour 39 minutes.
The 25-year-old from Laval, Que., will play Rinky Hijkata of Australia in the next round.
Other Canadians didn’t have the same success Sunday.
