PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) -- Daytime cooling shelters are opening up across the Portland, Vancouver and Salem metro areas on Friday amid an ongoing heat wave across the region, which is expected to see triple-digit temperatures starting Friday.
The National Weather Service's excessive heat warning started on Thursday, July 4 at noon and is expected to last until Monday, July 8 at 8 p.m.
