NEW YORK (PIX11) – Heavy downpours quickly swept through New York City Thursday morning, which prompted the FAA to temporarily ground flights in the area.
A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for New York City until 10:45 a.m. Gusts up to 60 mph were possible, along with penny-sized hail, according to NotifyNYC.
All flights at JFK, LaGuardia and Newark airports were grounded until at least 11 a.m., the FAA said.
The high on Thursday will be 82 in the city and low to mid 80s in the suburbs.
