British construction companies enjoyed their fastest expansion in more than a year during April, despite a further drop in house-building, according to a survey on Tuesday that added to signs of an economic recovery from recession.
The S&P Global UK Construction Purchasing Managers’ Index rose to 53.0 from 50.2 in March – moving further above the 50-point growth threshold and marking the fastest growth since February 2023.
