Norwegian Christmas Tree arrives in Trafalgar Square as symbol of gratitude

A towering symbol of Norway's gratitude, the annual Christmas tree arrived in Trafalgar Square, a tradition dating back to 1947 as a gesture of thanks for Britain's World War Two support. The 70-year-old spruce, chosen as the forest's "queen," was praised by Westminster's Lord Mayor, adorned with energy-efficient lights, and will be lit on December 7th. Despite past debates on tree quality, foresters affirm its splendor. The Poetry Society commissioned a children's poem for the tree. It'll grace London until January 5th before being composted.
