Why has price of hydrogen fuel jumped so high? Roadshow

Q: I was wondering if you knew what’s been going on with the hydrogen market? When we bought our Toyota Mirai in August 2022, hydrogen cost just over $16 a liter. Today, it’s nearly $36, more than doubled. Do you know why that is? Any possibility that it’ll drop again in the near future?

Also, the half-dozen hydrogen stations in the greater San Jose area seem to be offline an awful lot, especially lately. Half the time we can’t even pay the high prices if we wanted to! It’s really becoming an inconvenience.
