Most of the esports venues and videogame bars I've been to have been small, or kind of dingy. They cater to a niche audience and sometimes that means they can only afford to rent a niche. Like, in a wall.
In March of 2020 I went to the opening night of Fortress, a combination esports arena and game bar in Melbourne, Australia. A two-level structure at the bottom of a mall in the city, it wasn't like regular barcades. There were comfortable chairs at tables with space to walk between them, and a bookshelf of board games for hire.
